Rhode island red
CHICKS ARE SOLD UNSEXED
The rhode island red is a breed developped in the united states, in Rhode Island. They are a dual purpose breed, but most modern hatcheries have developped a strain much more focused on laying capabilities. The traditional non-industrial strains are listed as "watch" (medium conservation priority, meaning threatened breed)by the livestock conservancy.
Our line mixes a bit of both. The exhibition side includes the Mohawk strain, and some industrial line has been mixed in to improve on laying capabilities without damaging the striking mohogany color these birds should exhibit (as opposed the the orange industrials).
Our line of birds have a straight comb, and will lay medium to large brown eggs.
ALL BIRDS FROM OUR FARM 12 WEEKS AND OLDER ARE VACCINATED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING DISEASES; MAREKS, NEWCASTLE/ BRONCHITIS, MYCOPLASMA AND CORYZA STRAINS A B AND C.
